The American Consumer Opinions Panel (ACOP from now onwards!) is actually the very first survey site I found around 2/3 years ago although my membership completely lapsed when I changed ISP and lost my old email addresses. A year ago I re-found them, signed up again under a different username and promptly ended up with $60 in American Express gift cheques on my doormat within 2 months. How or why I ended up with these is anyone's guess because there was nothing to say why in the envelopes(one for each $10 gift cheque) and nothing on the site, but who cares right? lol I wasn't going to argue. Since then I've received more surveys from the site and more $10 gift cheques as a result. Kinda cool seeing how little you actually have to do to receive them so I thought I'd share the site with you...

Firstly, forget the name because the site does NOT just cater for an American audience although as it is based there I would assume their focus is more on that region. They are however, open to participants worldwide and I for one can vouch that they do actually send out surveys to international members(I swear some others say they are open internationally when in fact they have no international clients) and do cough up with the cash once you have earned it as well. It's a somewhat odd means of payment but there ya go, money is money even if it does come in a strange gift cheque with a dollar amount on the face! Just in case any of you are completely naive about all things paid survey based the principle this site and others work along is this: they send you emails inviting you to answer an online survey(you tick boxes and occasionally write something very brief in reply to questions), you do so and they send you cash in one form or another when they have verified you actually bothered doing it properly. Simple really, as I said, money for old rope and £6 for 10-15 minutes opinionating isn't to be sniffed at is it?

• How Do I G
et Involved?

Just toddle along to the site, click the ?Join? link and fill out a bunch of probing demographic details. This is the boring bit. You may feel a little uncomfortable over some of the questions asked(I never have) but you can rest assured that all of this remains totally private and is never passed on to either clients of the company or other third party companies. ACOP uses the details you have supplied to target surveys as those who fit their client's demographic requirements but that's as far as it goes, your details are safe. You'll also not find yourself bombarded with spam etc. they only want your details for the reasons mentioned and it's not in their interests to screw over their clients! You'll also need to(and this is important!) provide a VALID email address when you sign up and it has to be one you check regularly or you'll not get the invites.

• What now?

You sit back on your rapidly growing butt(well mine is) and wait. OK, you don't wait, you just carry on about you normal business and in a few days or a few months a survey invitation with arrive in your inbox. This is why you need a valid email address, without it, you'll not be able to take part! All survey companies send out *time sensitive surveys* as well so if you don't check regularly you'll find the date for completion has expired. That's why it needs to be an addy you check regularly. Basically, you snooze, you lose! So don't snooze, but don't sit there expecting surveys to come flooding in either because they won't. One a month is good going from ACOP. If you expect any more then you'll be disappointed.

• So what are the surveys like?

Well, they can be on all kinds of subjects and come in all kinds of formats. I tend to find ACOP sends out traditional surveys of the tickbox format as opposed so some of the other sites which often send out movie trailers for evaluation
etc. Generally a survey here will take you 10-15 minutes although there are longer ones and you'll be paid more if it's a very long one. All mine have been $10 surveys which can't be sniffed at for 15 mins of answering questions. ACOP's surveys are nicely laid out and 'painless' and very professional. I've never had a problem completing one of their surveys due to technical errors etc.

• How do I get paid?

As I said, you get paid in American Express gift cheques which I assume you just cash in at an American Express office or foreign exchange thingumy over here seeing as they are in dollars. Personally I visit the US a lot and they go with me and get paid straight over the counter but most of you will be taking a trip out to change them into British squids. You get paid on completion of surveys you qualify for(some are unpaid screeners to see if you fit a more detailed demographic for a later paying survey) and there are also prize draws on site for various cash mounts each month...which is where I assume my stray $60 came from! Payment is $4-$25 apparently dependent upon the length of the survey but mine have always been $10 each. Maybe it's different if you're in the US. The GCs take a while to arrive but arrive they *do* arrive so no complaints there.

• ...and the catch is?

There isn't one. Well maybe that you get gift cheques and need to cash them in at a bureau de change or something but otherwise, no catch, no complaints.

• Verdict

Again, no giving up the day job by signing up with ACOP, no getting rich quick but a few extra pennies in your pocket for doing very little at all. Hey where else can you earn the equivalent of $40-$60 an hour(do the maths) from sitting on your butt in front of a monitor with half an eye on Eastenders(or whatever your televisual poison may be)? I like this site, a few more regular surveys would be nice but they do pay well so i
t's easy to let them off for being a little slow to send the cash(it is coming from Texas after all) and for not being hugey prolific with the amount of surveys they do send. If you sign up for the site and expect to be flooded by cash earning surveys you'll be disappointed, it doesn't work like that, but you will get some(5 or 6 a year I qualify for - I get more short screeners though so you may be luckier) and you will get paid. Can't say fairer than that.

I am unable to comment on what customer service is like from this website as i have never had to enquire about anything, which i feel is a testment to the smooth running of the site in that there are minimal if any problems which occur. There is a help section on the main website to answer any common queries, this is located in the frequently asked questions section of the help page.
Now, onto the surveys themselves, personally for invitations to take part in surveys are frequent, often multiple times a week, sometimes even more than once per day, although this is rare. Often i am screened out of surveys, which is unfortunate, however unlike many other survey sites you are still rewarded, points for surveys range from 5pts to say, 35 points+ depending on the survey. This means that if you are screened out, you earn 5 pts for attempting to take part, which soon mounts up! If you are not screened out then you receive the latter number, for example, 35 pts for completing the full survey. Many surveys offer 50 points of 75 for completion, a few even offer 100. Surveys are always by invitation only, via email, which holds a link to the survey itself. The emails also tell you your current marketpoint balance, so it is easy to keep track of how near to payout you are without having to log onto the main website.

Finally, i feel that this website is one of the best i have joined, it takes 2 months plus to earn payout for me, giving me approximately £150 in potential earnings from this website over the course of a year. Cashcrate is a very country-specific website. After browsing through their forums and signing up myself to check it out, I realized that like Cashcrate has the most offers for U.S residents and therefore works best for them. However, they have also been known to offer a wide variety of offers for Canadian users.

Do not that the offers are noticeably lesser for countries outside of Europe or North America, because advertisers usually do not target consumers who are in other regions.

The offers themselves range from your usual video subscriptions to other free trials which allow you to get a higher return if you own a credit card.

Cashcrate is relatively easy to use. All you need to do is to complete offers and then click on a ‘Submit’ button in a banner that opens up at the top of your page. Offers usually take a few days to be approved.

Another thing to note.. they pay only by Check or Amazon Gift Cards and other pre-paid Visa-based methods which I didn’t bother to explore in detail. Their payment method is fairly simple: No Paypal or egold or moneybookers are allowed.

I did find the offers to be a little repetitive and some of them followed the same formulae.. complete this offer, refer a friend and get either an iPod, laptop of Xbox 260. Other offers included surveys and other free websites that only require you to plug in your email address.

Their referral system, however is very attractive. Even if you’re not in the U.S, you’ll be allowed to make money by referring active users to Cashcrate. You’ll get $1 bonus whenever a new user you referred in the U.S completes an offer, which is rather nice.

Cashcrate will pay ou get 20% for first level referrals and 10% for 2nd level referrals. The amount of percentage you earn will depend on how many members you refer. The more members you refer, the higher your overall referral percentage will be.

Conclusion:

Cashcrate isn’t a scam, although it might seem like one at first glance. I would suggest spending some time in their forums, if you want to learn more about their program. This particular section of their forum offers payment proofs and testimonials so it’ll be great place to start.

If you’re not in the U.S but are willing to work hard at getting referrals, you can start by signing up with Cashcrate . The returns are justified because you won’t be doing anything at all. It’s very much a passive process. Refer some users based in the U.S and they’ll do all the work for you, while you take a cut of their earnings. Attractive isn’t it?

Update - 11th December: Cashcrate pays! Got my first check for US $5.28 this morning. A small amount but agreeable because I practically spent less than five minutes completing offers. Most of it came from referrals (Thanks y’all!)

I’ve noticed that you’ll receive instant credit for most surveys and websites which you can join without a credit card. I’ve tried it out for 2 hours and earned 4.50 for the free offers.

I’ve also signed up with some merchants who offer free trials of certain products (credit card needed) but I haven’t gotten a confirmation that I’ve completed the offer, even though almost three days had passed. Something I didn’t like about Treasure Trooper.

Alternatively, what I liked was that every time you completed a offer you earn cash along with some virtual coins, which could be used to exchange for products such as ipods, mousepads or bumper stickers among others.

Other than that.. Treasure Trooper seems to offer a lot more offers than Cashcrate, possibly up to a hundred I think. However one will soon notice the predominance of are surveys or lame ad-sites which offer free ipods or Xbox 360s if you complete some offers and refer friends.

One particular problem I’ve noted is that most of the offers are only available to U.S residents and a lot of them were simply just not available in my area.

Is Treasure Trooper a Scam? - Payment and Testimonials

Treasure Trooper has a very active forum and sections with hundred of screenshots from current users (Some of them from the recent month can be found here).

I was amazed to see experienced users earning over a thousand dollars in offers. The community seems helpful and answered my questions politely. I felt that Treasure Trooper was a pretty OK site to meet like-minded individuals interested in making money online.

Treasure Trooper’s payout rate is $20, which is far more than Cashcrate’s $5. If you do have a credit card, you’ll probably reach the payout rate much faster, because you’ll be able to sign up for free trials and earn considerably bigger sums of movie.

Two simple snippets of advice if you want to signup with Treasure Trooper: 1) Concentrate on getting referrals if you don’t live in the U.S, it’s a faster way of earning more money. 2) Download Roboform so you can automate form filling - it’ll help you complete those pesky offers and surveys at a much faster pace.
